![]() These guys were known as “The Untouchables” and finished their season going 34-2 and went undefeated in conference play. These names include Tony Delk, Antoine Walker, Walter McCarty, Derek Anderson, Ron Mercer, Mark Pope, Jeff Sheppard, Wayne Turner, and Nazr Mohammed. ![]() Their roster, led by head coach Rick Pitino, had 9 future NBA players. Kentucky is known for churning out NBA level talent and that was no different in the 1995-96 season. This Duke team went on to go 34-2 and won the national championship in impressive fashion 71-51 over #6 Michigan. However, Laettner was the clear leader averaging 21.5 PPG and 7.9 RPG and we all know about what he brought in terms of energy and toughness. He had a great squad to work with that included 6 NBA future NBA players Christian Laettner, Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, Brian Davis, Antonio Lang, and Cherokee Parks. Their entry onto our list is their squad from 1991-92 which was coached by legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski. 1991-92 Duke Blue DevilsĪnother blue blood college basketball program is the Duke Blue Devils. There is no question many of John Wooden’s UCLA teams could make it on our list. The only reason they aren’t at the top of our list is that they lost 1 game and the two teams above are of the undefeated variety. UCLA didn’t have much of a problem this season only losing 1 game and destroying Houston in the Final Four, 101-69. The team was led by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who went on to become an NBA legend and was one of the best college basketball players we have ever seen. 1967-68 UCLA BruinsĪnother John Wooden era UCLA team to make our list is the 1967-68 squad that won the school’s 4 th NCAA title under the legendary coach. The Hoosiers had 6 NBA players on their roster most notably Scott May who averaged 23.5 PPG and 7.7 RPG in this season. They defeated UCLA in the national semi-final and then went on to win by 18 vs Michigan to secure the national title. This Hoosiers team was led by hall of fame coach Bob Knight and were able to dethrone the UCLA Bruins, who ran everybody out of the gym in previous college basketball seasons. It is an enormous accomplishment and given what we see in this era, we will likely never see it again. The 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers were the last team to go undefeated and win the national championship. ![]() This Bruins team was one of the best and we will likely never see a team as good as them in the future. He averaged 21.1 PPG and 15.5 RPG and alongside Henry Bibby, 15.7 PPG 3.5 RPG, they were unstoppable. At UCLA Bill Walton was a force and there was nobody that could stop him. This led them to a 30-0 record where they won the NCAA title. This 1971-72 team was special, they ranked 5 th in scoring and 8 th in points allowed per game. Constantly going deep into the NCAA Tournament with one of the best coaches in the history of the game, John Wooden. Back in the day, the UCLA Bruins were the best program in college basketball.
